Gym Leader Battle 1: Brock from Pewter City will rock you!

Type: Rock

Whichever starter you picked will be perfect for this battle! Squirtle and Bulbasaur because of their types (Water and Grass) and Charmander because he learns Metal Claw! If your Charmander doesn’t know Metal Claw, catch a Caterpie in the forest and evolve it to Butterfree… easy!

Gym Leader Battle 2: Misty, the Mystical Water Gym Leader of Cerulean!

Type: Water

If you picked Bulbasaur you’ll be on Easy street in this battle! If not then you can catch a Pikachu in the Viridian Forest and train it up! Or just rely on your current Pokemon to beat them up!

It’s not a difficult battle but Starmie can get pretty annoying!

Gym Leader Battle 3: L.T. Surge, Electrifying you in Vermillion!!

Type: Electric

If you chose Squirtle this won’t be easy, unless you catch a Diglett/Dugtrio from the nearby Diglett’s Tunnel! Bulbasaur isn’t too bad, nor is Charmander. Maybe you should train up a bit if you chose Squirtle. Also I do advise catching a Diglett/Dugtrio in the cave. They’re really useful in this battle! Especially against Raichu!

If you chose Squirtle this won’t be easy, unless you catch a have a strong fire Pokemon to back you up, or just another really strong Pokemon! Bulbasaur won’t do too good, nor will Squirtle, but Charmander is perfect for this battle!

Gym Leader Battle 5: Koga, Poison Mania!

Type: Poison

Ok, it really doesn’t matter who you have, unless you have really weak Pokemon! I’d advise you to use a strong Psychic in this battle. It would also be a good idea to bring along a few Antidotes, Full Heals and Awakenings. Also, The Trainers in the gym have Psychic Pokemon so bring something strong against Psychic AND something strong against Poison! Also this Gym still has the invisible walls like it did in R/B/Y/G/S/C. You can actually make out the walls if you look hard enough and avoid most trainers!

Gym Leader Battle 6: Sabrina, Predicting your future, in Saffron City!

Type: Psychic

An easy solution to Sabrina (and to avoid most battles) just keep going up and down on the pads. It will get you there with not many battles! You may want to destroy Sabrina’s Pokemon fast, as they can be really frustrating! Although I have no idea where Venomoth came from!

Gym Leader Battle 8: Giovanni, The dirty man of Viridian!

Type: Ground

Giovanni is back, with a gym! He runs Viridian City's Ground type gym! The gym is relatively simple, providing you have the right Pokemon, Squirtle and Bulbasaur (should now be Blastoise and Venasaur), shouldn’t have a problem! Can’t say the same about Charmander/Charizard though…
